What is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia on the underside of the foot. Pain is commonly worse in the morning or after prolonged sitting. It is caused by repetitive faulty function of the foot placing excessive tension on the plantar fascia.

There are 2 foot types that are predisposed to this problem:

1. Flat Feet

2. High-arched Feet

They both place excessive tension on the foots structures; however they must be treated differently. "High-arched" feet suffer because their tissues and joints are too tight or rigid. "Flat" feet suffer because the tissues and joints tend to be too "loose" and lack structural stability.

Treatment

-A thorough and detailed evaluation

-Treatment of injured soft tissues (dry needling, A.R.T, class IV laser, IASTM and cupping)

-Restore joint mobility and increase range of motion

-Strengthen and stabilize (DNS and exercise rehabilitation)
